It’s the long weekend? Ever since the hybrid work model went into place, that’s kinda every weekend for some. Despite the WHO officially downgrading COVID-19 as a global health emergency a week ago, some companies are still observing only 3 days in the office (mostly Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) and many have mandated their employees back to the office 3 days a week. Back in the Industrial Age, people worked a punishing six-day, 96-hour work week. I’m not suggesting we return to that, but I’m all for productivity. According to a recent Maclean’s magazine article, “a four-day/10-hour-per-day work week is a way to cut costs, conserve energy and build a more productive and creative workforce.”
However it is, three-day weekends are still awesome. If we had one every week, it wouldn’t seem so special. Have a safe and happy Victoria Day weekend!
